From SKAA to Leading Oncology in Kenya

Dr. Abeid Athman, a Sheikh Khalifa alumnus, is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist and Head of the Oncology Department at Kenyatta University Teaching Referral & Research Hospital in Nairobi, leading one of the largest comprehensive cancer units in the country.

Inspired by the shortage of cancer specialists in Kenya, he pursued Oncology to help bridge this gap. He trained in Alexandria, Egypt, and is a fellow of the European School of Oncology in Milan, Italy.

His work focuses on managing various cancers, with a special interest in breast cancer in young women and oncofertility. His vision is to ensure that every cancer patient receives treatment without financial hardship.

In recognition of his impact, Dr. Abeid was named among the Top 40 Under 40 Men by Business Daily Africa in 2024.
